Chris Wong

Community Food Program Manager

Chris brings over a decade of experience in community food systems, nutrition education, and equity-driven program design. His work has centered on advancing food sovereignty and strengthening local food networks through culturally relevant education, farm-to-school partnerships, and community engagement.

In 2025, Chris joined the Center for Land-Based Learning as the Community Food Program Manager. Previously, he served as a Community Engagement Specialist with the Public Health Institute’s Center for Wellness and Nutrition and as Supervisor for the CalFresh Healthy Living program at UC Cooperative Extension in Imperial County, where he managed nutrition and garden programs, mentored youth, and supported policy, systems, and environmental change efforts.

He has also served the community through many roles, including as a UC Master Gardener, Farmers’ Market Manager, City Commissioner, youth sports coach, and AB617 Community Steering Committee alternate member. In his freetime, he enjoys dancing with his toddler twins and playing catch with their older brother.
