Speaker Series April 15

This monthly event is a fun way to connect and learn. Each month, we focus on a different topic, highlighting some of the difference-makers in our region. Enjoy hot wood-fired pizzas, cold drinks, and great conversation.

Margaret Lloyd is a Small Farms Advisor at University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources. She focuses on organic nitrogen management, beneficial insect recruitment, disease suppressive soil, rotation crops and other topics that recruit ecosystem services. She also hosts a tool lending library and will share her extensive knowledge about some of the best tools for small farms.

Tractor & Field Operation

This comprehensive four-week course is designed for new tractor operators and those seeking a refresher on safe and effective tractor operation. Throughout the course, participants will engage in practical, real-world experiences to build skill and confidence. Students will practice setting up and calibrating tractor implements, develop hands-on tractor operation skills across multiple tractors, and gain experience operating a BCS two-wheel tractor.

Ag Irrigation Management

This 8-week intro to irrigation course will build practical, field-based irrigation skills. The course combines live, online instruction with on-farm lab work to reinforce learning through hands-on application.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to evaluate site conditions, design and assess low-volume irrigation systems, and determine when, how much, and how long to irrigate for specific crops and farm contexts.

In-person field days in Woodland, CA:
April 20 and 21, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Online Learning:
Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 23-June 9,
5:30-7 p.m.
