Chris Erickson

Urban Ag Internship Program Manager

Chris is an educator, writer, and community-builder who believes that meaningful learning happens when young people are connected to the land and trusted as leaders. He joins the Center for Land-Based Learning as the Urban Ag Internship Program Manager with over fifteen years of experience developing youth programs in experiential and garden-based settings.

Most recently, Chris served as Head of School, Language Arts Teacher, and Garden Manager at Peregrine School in Davis, where he launched the school’s first urban farm internship program, Campus to Community. Through partnerships with urban farms in the Sacramento region, he connected upper elementary students with hands-on agricultural learning, managing everything from curriculum design and partnership development to student mentorship and program logistics.

Chris’s approach to education is rooted in inquiry, creativity, and student agency. He has supervised staff teams, built lasting community partnerships, and integrated environmental stewardship into youth programming across multiple settings. A published author and graduate of UC Davis’s M.F.A. program in English, with an undergraduate degree in film as well, Chris brings a storyteller’s lens to his work with young people, helping them find their own voices as leaders in the food systems movement.
