TREE TO TABLE
Ever wondered what it actually takes to bring in an olive harvest? Join us at our five-acre orchard for a hands-on look at two very different approaches: traditional hand rakes and INFACO electronic harvesters.
We’ll be joined by Manuel Barrera and the technical and management team from Cobram Estate/California Olive Ranch, along with Tim Kinyon, Western Sales Manager at INFACO USA, who’ll lead a rake demonstration, and Peter Hunter of Longview Ranch in Winters, a longtime olive grower, who’ll walk through harvest best practices.
You’ll get to try both methods yourself and see firsthand how technique, tools, and timing all affect the harvest. We’ll also walk through what it takes to keep an orchard healthy year-round—from pruning and irrigation to pest management and seasonal care.
Beyond the harvest itself, we’ll share what we’re learning about maximizing carbon sequestration and building healthy soil biology in the orchard—work that’s shaping how we think about olive growing as part of a bigger picture of climate-smart agriculture.
The day wraps up with a tasting of oil pressed from this very orchard, so you can taste the results of the work firsthand.
