General Information

Rental opportunities at the Farm on Putah Creek provide a peaceful country side setting with both indoor and outdoor facilities for groups or individuals. The Farm is an excellent place for activities including tours, meetings, seminars and workshops, retreats, school field trips, educational field days and service learning projects. The Farm on Putah Creek can accommodate both small and large groups providing an ideal setting for your event.

To assure the best visit, please make advance arrangements, especially if you are bringing a group. The Farm is a popular place for many types of audiences, and you will need to contact us early for reservations – we want to be able to bring you the best experience possible.

The setting is a working walnut orchard centered around a beautiful 1890’s farmhouse, educational gardens and native plantings. The farmland, bordering Putah Creek, includes wildlife-friendly ponds and hedgerows filled with native trees and shrubs, plus restored native grassland and wetland areas.

Visitors often spot California Quail, Great Blue Heron, Anna’s Hummingbird, Barn and Tree Swallows, Western Bluebird, Common Barn Owl (around dusk), Yellow-Rumped Warbler, and Swainson’s, Red-Tailed, and Red Shouldered Hawks. Overall, more than 60 different species of birds have been documented at the Farm.

 

The “Farmhouse”…

  • Capacity of up to 30 people. The largest room, complete with a beautiful 100-year old pine and oak-inlaid table, seats 20 comfortably. There are chairs for an additional 10-15 people to sit around the room edge. Additionally, there are two fully-furnished smaller rooms which are great for breakout sessions, food service, or information lay-out
  • Includes a full kitchen (including plates, glasses, and utensils for up to 40) for food preparation or serving
  • Spacious lawns surround the Farmhouse on all sides; up to 160 stackable lawn chairs are included with the rental for outdoor use
  • Peaceful wrap-around covered porch overlooking farm fields, walnut orchards and the Coastal Range

The “Barn” Classroom and Workshop Facility…

  • Improved barn with extras that you might not expect: lights, tables, a large pull-down screen for presentations, propane space heaters, outdoor chairs, and an outdoor kitchen facility with large sinks outdoor facilities – including 150-seat amphitheater
  • Ideal for large events such as educational field days, company gatherings, barbecues, public celebrations and outings, and other special celebrations
  • Ideal for hands-on workshops that use our wildlife-friendly agricultural practices like hedgerows, or the teaching garden and outdoor learning area
  • Includes the use of ALL other outdoor areas as your needs require, including outdoor picnic areas and a 150-seat amphitheater

The “Whole Enchilada”

  • Entire Farmhouse, Barn, and all outdoor facilities – including 150-seat amphitheater
  • Ideal for large events such as educational field days, company gatherings, barbecues, public celebrations and outings, and other special celebrations
