AgHiRE
Spanish-speaking agricultural employees build practical skills to take on greater responsibility within their operation. Training focuses on leadership, communication, English, computer skills and workplace readiness.
FARMS Program
High school students get hands-on experience exploring careers in agriculture and the environment. Through field days, industry connections and leadership development, students build skills and discover pathways for their future.
Urban Ag Internships
High school students gain paid, hands-on experience exploring careers in agriculture and the environment. They build job skills, gain real-world experience and grow as leaders through work on farms, gardens and community projects.
California Farm Academy Courses
Adults interested in farming can build practical skills through flexible courses, workshops and hands-on learning. Current and aspiring commercial farmers can also pursue more advanced training in farm production, business and leadership.
Farm & Climate
Farmers, researchers, students and community members explore farming practices that support healthy soils, biodiversity and a changing climate through research and demonstrations at The Maples Farm. Field projects, workshops and hands-on learning help test and share practical approaches that can be used on farms across California.
SLEWS Program
High school students take part in hands-on habitat restoration projects on farms, ranches and open spaces. Through field days, they plant native vegetation, improve wildlife habitat and build teamwork and career skills alongside environmental professionals.
Community Food Program
The Community Food Program (CFP) inspires and educates Yolo County residents in their role as conscious consumers, connects them to local farms, and distributes nutrient-dense food to neighborhoods with little access. By making this connection, a community can work together to build a more equitable and resilient food system and increase access to fresh, healthy food.
SLEWS Academy
Educators and natural resource professionals learn how to build hands-on restoration and environmental education programs in their own communities. Through training, planning and ongoing support, participants develop programs based on the SLEWS model and connect with a statewide network of partners.
Farm Business Incubator
The Farm Business Incubator has helped beginning farmers build and test farm businesses through access to land, infrastructure, training and mentorship. The program is currently paused while CLBL plans for future opportunities.
Farm Manager Apprenticeship Program
Aspiring farm managers gain paid, hands-on experience while learning the skills needed to manage a farm. Apprentices work alongside agricultural employers and take courses in farm production, leadership and management.
