Collaboration Makes SLEWS Possible
SLEWS is multifaceted, bringing together students, teachers, landowners, restoration professionals, mentors, and community supporters to make hands-on restoration and environmental education possible.
For more than 25 years, SLEWS has worked with partners across California to connect young people with meaningful restoration projects. Through these collaborations, students contribute to healthier ecosystems while building connections to their communities, natural resources, and potential environmental careers.
Ways to Partner with SLEWS
Host a Habitat Restoration Project
Landowners and restoration organizations can partner with SLEWS to bring students to restoration sites and engage them in meaningful, hands-on work. SLEWS helps coordinate the student experience and connects restoration activities with environmental education.

BECOME A CLASSROOM PARTNER
SLEWS gives high-school students the opportunity to step outside the classroom and participate in real-world habitat restoration. Through hands-on field days, students work alongside restoration professionals and community partners while building their knowledge of ecosystems, natural resources, and environmental careers.
We prioritize Title I schools and ask participating schools to contribute a $900 participation fee to guarantee involvement in our programming. Financial assistance may be available upon request.

Become Restoration Partner
SLEWS partners with restoration organizations and natural resource professionals to expand opportunities for high-school students to participate in meaningful, hands-on restoration. Partners help identify and develop restoration projects, collaborate with landowners and SLEWS staff, and provide the expertise needed to make student field experiences successful.
We work with organizations such as Resource Conservation Districts, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, conservation organizations, land trusts, and local agencies to connect restoration projects with youth education.

Become a SLEWS Academy Partner
SLEWS Academy expands the reach of the program by training educators, teachers, and natural resource professionals to replicate the SLEWS model in their own regions. Through training and ongoing support, participants learn how to engage youth in hands-on restoration and environmental education.

Become a SLEWS Mentor
Volunteer mentors play an important role in supporting students during SLEWS field days. Mentors work alongside students as they participate in restoration activities, explore environmental topics, and build connections with professionals and their peers.

Support SLEWS
Financial support helps SLEWS provide high-school students with meaningful, hands-on restoration experiences across California.
Donations and sponsorships help provide the tools, restoration materials, food, safety equipment, and educational supplies needed for successful field days.
